Hepatology

Hepatology is a medical specialty that focuses on the study, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and conditions of the liver, gallbladder, biliary tree, and pancreas. Hepatologists use a variety of high-tech procedures to diagnose, treat, and cure liver dysfunction. They specialize in investigating and treating all types of liver disease, including viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, and rarer conditions. They may also be involved with patients who have received or need a liver transplant.
